Basotho Calendar and Cosmology

Basotho Calendar and Cosmology

The Preamble

The current Gregorian calendar is the oppressive calendar of the ECC (Euro-Christian Colonialism) brutally imposed upon us by the Church and its overzealous Missionaries. This ECC calendar is based on European seasons and has nothing to do with the African seasons.

Enter the Basotho calendar! The month of Phato (August) is the New Year in the Calendar of the Basotho. This has been the case since time immemorial. This calendar is based on two events of periodicity namely (1) the moon period and (2) the womb period. As a result of this sacrosanct principle of Pedi (duology), the Basotho month has 28 days and 13 months. They add an extra day to the 12th month (Phupjane) and 13th month (Phupu).

The two days are based on the cosmologic principle of Pedi which birthed the cosmos through Mokgubu wa Kganare (umbilical galactic core) in a massive explosion resulting from the intersect of Peo ya Kganare (primeval seed) and Mokedi wa Lehe la Kganare (primordial water of the Cosmic Egg). Pedi (two) means life as confirmed by the two lexical parts namely (1) Pe and (2) Di. Pe means existence as in Tshepe (antelope) and something you cannot exist without as in Pelo (heart).

The missing 13th month is the 6th month of Morula that lies hidden between Tshitwe (December) and Pherekgong (January).

Join me tonight Saturday August 6, 2022 at 7pm as I discuss this cosmologic topic further with the revolutionary DJs Ras Kush and Ras Jah Knight of the Maa’t Reggae Show on Radio Teemaneng 89.1 FM of Kimberley, Northern Cape. See details below:
