African Philosophy of Transcendence

African Philosophy of Transcendence

The Preamble

I just got discharged from hospital after more than a month of admission due to a foot injury. The foot was not attended by a doctor until after more than 10 days when the foot had become further damaged. I was taken to a Theatre where the foot was amputated! Now I have lost my mobility and independence but thankfully not my mind!

The extreme pain of amputation almost killed me. I began to pay tribute to mothers for their supernatural ability to endure and to transcend the labour pain that kills! Some have lost their lives to the painful travails of labour like the wife of Counselor Moyo of Canada. May her soul rest in peace!

A woman does not allow this killer pain to define her. As men we have no metaphysical access to the experience of painful labour. A woman is a goddess. People go to church to find God yet they leave the god behind. Your Mother is your god. There is no greater god than the Mother that birthed you.

I need your sympathetic help to get on with my sacrosanct life of destiny in the terrestrial space. My sacrosanct mission is to facilitate communication between the African ancients and the African descendants in the Motherland and the Diaspora.

African Philosophy of Transcendence

despite privation enforced,
optimism is embraced.
To shake off the funks
To pursue the truth of reality
To remain graceful despite pain
To adapt to the harsh terrain
To hold relationships sacrosanct
Mponeng awaits the desert rain
Undefined by adverse conditions
Transcendence is “undefined”

like the horizonless unfazed,
to defend the great seed encased.
Fearful bacteria underground
Driven by a massive greed
To disassemble a seed
To particles of nothingness
Leaving no trace of a seed once there.
The indefatigable desert flower
Is on guard like a loyalist
To preserve the purity of the seed
In accordance with the moral code
of the African ancients
for the survival benefit
of Thari / Imbeleko / The Melanin

Contextual Commentary

The resilient multi-ethnic culture of Mother Africa is a desert seed that must rise like an unstoppable tide from a long hiatus in the great awakening of the African cultural revolution.

Like the tenacious desert seed that remains subdued and unblemished underground for years; for decades and for centuries listening to the slightest indications of the falling rain, the indigenous culture has been arrested; strangled and subdued underground for centuries on account of a harsh colonial rule with the advent of Vasco da Gama of Portugal and his ECC (Euro-Christian Colonialism).

Notwithstanding, the unconquerable indigenous culture has remained, for the most part, well defended against the subliminal hired guns like the great Zulu commanders of Eshowe under the defensive strategy of General Mavumengwane ka Sompisi and the victorious Basotho regiment commanders directed by the thunderbolt General Mogorosi and Letsi of King Moshoeshoe in the anti-colonial struggle against foreign occupation.

When the desert rain of the cultural revolution rises like an unstoppable tide, the revolutionary Natives like the great Mponeng of Kgalagadi (Kalahari Desert) must spring to life and internalise the rain before the evanescent rain vanishes into oblivion. Hitherto, the struggle stalemate. Hereafter, the good tide rises; all watercrafts rise even the smallest ones.

When the desert rain pours onto a harsh and parched ground, the reviled desert flower Mponeng springs to life to shake off the angst of the desert dust like shaking off the angst of a dehumanizing colonial rule.

Dancing in the recharging breeze of the African rain and wearing some green, the rejuvenated flower internalises the rain and guards against the complacent and narcissistic tendencies of the terrestrial life so that when the evanescent rain vanishes into oblivion, the emancipated flower can draw from the healing reserves of the rain that fell. Ezamathongo! Tsamaroko! Thokoza Makhosi!.
